About the Author

"I'm not a guru. I'm not special. I'm just someone who refused to settle for a mediocre life and figured out how to become Beach Fitโ€”one pillar at a time."
Matthew Brooks - Writer, Speaker, Motivator

Matthew Brooks

Hi, I'm Matthew. And I wrote this book because I was exactly where you might be right now:

Stuck in a cubicle. Living paycheck to paycheck. Physically out of shape. Emotionally numb. Spiritually lost. Financially stressed. Mentally stagnant.

I knew there was more to life. I just didn't know how to get there.

The Rock Bottom That Changed Everything (2018)

But before I tell you about the system, I need to tell you about rock bottom.

January 2018. I was 35 years old. $50,000 in credit card debt. Addicted to cocaine, marijuana, and alcohol. Fired from my job for drug abuse. My mom in the ICU.

Everyone said I needed rehab. They were right.

That's when I asked myself one question: "How free do I want to be?"

The answer: More free than I'd ever been in my life.

So I went to treatment. Did the work. Got sober. Moved to Costa Rica in May 2018. Started rebuilding from zero.

But here's the truth: That 2018 rock bottom wasn't the beginning of my journey.

The Real Timeline: 27 Years to Beach Fit

Most people think transformation happens fast. It doesn't.

1999-2009 (Ages 17-27): The Yo-Yo Years
Ten years of trying everything. Going to the gym, then quitting. Eating clean, then bingeing. Making money, then spending it. Trying to fix everything at once. Burning out. Starting over. I was a software engineer in a cubicle by 2009, staring at beach photos during compile time, knowing there had to be more.

2009 (Age 27): The Pattern Matching Breakthrough
That's when it clicked. I was debugging code one dayโ€”isolating variables, fixing one thing at a timeโ€”and realized: That's how you fix a life too. Stop trying to do everything at once. Master one area. Automate it. Stack the next one on top. One pillar at a time.

2009-2018 (Ages 27-35): Building the Foundation (9 Years)
I worked on the pillars, one by one. But I fell off. Hard. By 2018, I'd lost everything to addiction. Back to zero.

2018-2026 (Ages 35-43): The Final Build (8 Years)
Treatment. Sobriety. Costa Rica. Rebuilding with the pillar system. This time, it stuck. By 2026, at 43 years old, all 8 pillars were firing. Beach Fit in every area.

Total Journey: 27 years. Ten years failing. Nine years building. One year falling. Eight years rebuilding to completion.

That's the real story. Not "8 years to Beach Fit." 27 years of learning, failing, and finally mastering the system.

What I Do Now

Today, I run Brilliant Directories, a software company that helps people build membership and directory websites. I've helped thousands of entrepreneurs launch their platforms and grow their businesses.

I live in Costa Rica (tax optimization, baby). I travel frequently. I work out daily. I read constantly. I journal every morning. I invest wisely. I live in flow state.

I'm not rich. I'm not famous. But I'm free.

Free to:

That's what this book is about: Freedom. In all 8 areas of life.

My Philosophy

I believe in a few core principles:

1. "Everything that gets measured gets better."
Track your metrics. Use data. Optimize constantly.

2. "It's not how much you make, it's how much you keep."
Financial freedom is about savings, not salary.

3. "The more you learn, the more you earn."
Invest in your intelligence. Read 100+ books per year.

4. "They can take everything from you, but not your willingness to learn and make money."
My father's wisdom. Your skills are your most valuable asset.

5. "Most people submit a first draft. Winners submit a final draft."
Rick Norris taught me this. Start thinking about problems early. Iterate. Your answers will be superior.

6. "Everything in life is a seduction."
Whether it's relationships, sales, negotiations, or lifeโ€”learn to influence ethically.

7. "Go AI-first. Use it as a thinking partner, not copy-paste."
AI is the most powerful tool of our generation. Use it smart.

8. "I don't wear a watch. I don't subscribe to the idea of death."
Live in flow state. Be present. Time is a construct.

Why I Wrote This Book

Because I've worked with hundreds of men over the years. Coaching them. Mentoring them. Helping them figure out how to become Beach Fit.

And I kept seeing the same patterns:

So I wrote this book to give you the roadmap I wish I had 10 years ago.

The 8 Pillars. The Systems. The Mindsets. The Worksheets. Everything.

You don't need to spend 8 years figuring this out like I did. You can accelerate. You have the map now.

You just need to start.
