PILLAR 5: Habits & Holistic Health
You Don't Rise to Your Goals, You Fall to Your Systems
We've covered a lot so far:
- Body: Physical fitness and energy
- Emotional: Resilience and regulation
- Awareness: Alignment with purpose
- Connection: Deep relationships and community
Now here's the question: How do you maintain all of this?
Because here's the truth: Motivation fades. Willpower runs out. You can't white-knuckle your way to Beach Fit.
You need systems. You need habits. You need a holistic approach that makes Beach Fit automatic.
That's what this chapter is about.
The Habits Shirt-Off Test
Can you take your shirt off with your habits?
Meaning: If someone followed you for a week and watched your daily routines, would they see Beach Fit habits? Or would they see chaos?
Here's the test:
- Do you have a consistent morning routine?
- Do you have systems for health (meal prep, training schedule, sleep routine)?
- Do you have daily non-negotiables that keep you on track?
- Can you maintain your habits even when life gets hard?
- Are your habits sustainableâor are you constantly starting and stopping?
If you answered "no" to any of these, your habits need work.
And that's okay. Because habits are skills, and skills can be learned.
Why Most People Fail at Habits
Everyone knows they should have good habits. Everyone wants discipline. But most people fail. Why?
The 5 Reasons Habits Fail:
1. Relying on Motivation
Motivation is a feeling. Feelings come and go. If you need to "feel motivated" to work out, you'll miss 50% of your workouts.
2. No Systems, Just Goals
Goals are outcomes. Systems are processes. "Lose 20lbs" is a goal. "Meal prep every Sunday" is a system. Systems win.
3. Too Many Habits at Once
Trying to change everything at once = changing nothing. One habit at a time. Master it. Then add another.
4. All-or-Nothing Thinking
Missed one workout? "Welp, I've ruined everything. Might as well quit." No. One miss doesn't matter. Missing twice in a row does.
5. No Environment Design
Your environment is stronger than your willpower. If junk food is in your house, you'll eat it. If your gym clothes aren't laid out, you won't work out.
Fix these five, and habits become easy.
The Beach Fit Habit System
Here's my framework for building unbreakable habits:
1. Start with Identity, Not Outcome
Most people set habits based on outcomes:
- "I want to lose 20lbs" â "I should work out"
- "I want to make more money" â "I should wake up early"
This fails because it's outcome-focused. And outcomes are delayed.
Instead, start with identity:
- "I'm an athlete" â Athletes train every day
- "I'm a disciplined person" â Disciplined people wake up early
When your habits are tied to identity, they become non-negotiable. You're not "trying to work out." You're being who you are.
Beach Fit Identity: "I'm a Beach Fit person. Beach Fit people do X every day."
Now the habit isn't optional. It's just who you are.
2. The Daily Non-Negotiables
You can't have 50 habits. That's chaos. You need 3-5 daily non-negotiablesâhabits that, if you do them, guarantee you'll stay Beach Fit.
My Daily Non-Negotiables:
- Morning routine (wake up, water, movement, cold shower, breathwork)
- Training (lift weights or conditioning, no exceptions)
- Nutrition (hit protein target, eat real food)
- Evening wind-down (no screens 1 hour before bed, journal, sleep by 10pm)
- One act of service (help someone, even if it's small)
These five habits, done daily, keep me Beach Fit. Everything else is secondary.
Your turn: What are your 3-5 daily non-negotiables?
3. Habit Stacking
New habits fail when they're isolated. They succeed when they're stacked onto existing habits.
Formula: After [EXISTING HABIT], I will [NEW HABIT].
My Personal Habit Stacking Examples
Audiobooks + Music While Working Out:
I listen to e-books during my training sessions, but I'll switch between music and audiobooks depending on the intensity. High-intensity sets? Music for energy. Walking or stretching? Audiobooks for learning. This way I'm building my body AND my mind simultaneously.
Pushups Every Day (3 Sets of 75 Each):
This is a daily non-negotiable stacked into my routine. Here's how it works:
The Daily Pushup Protocol:
Goal: 3 sets of 75 pushups each
How to execute:
⢠If you can do 75 pushups straight, do it.
⢠If you cannot do 75 at once, do as many as you can, then break.
⢠After a short rest, continue until you reach 75 total for that set.
⢠Push to the point where you hit failureâthis is where the real muscle breakdown happens.
Why this works: Pushing your body to failure forces it to break down muscle tissue, which then rebuilds stronger. This isn't about perfect form for all 75âit's about pushing through discomfort and teaching your body to adapt.
When I do it: I stack this after my morning coffee, between work sessions, and before bed. Three times throughout the day. Non-negotiable.
More Stacking Examples:
⢠After I pour my morning coffee, I will do 10 push-ups.
⢠After I finish lunch, I will walk for 10 minutes.
⢠After I brush my teeth at night, I will journal for 5 minutes.
This works because you're using an existing neural pathway (coffee â wake up) and adding a new behavior (coffee â push-ups â wake up).
No new willpower required. Just attach the habit to something you already do.
4. The Two-Minute Rule
Most habits fail because they're too big. "I'm going to work out for an hour" feels overwhelming.
Instead: Make it so easy you can't say no.
Examples:
⢠Instead of "work out for an hour" â "Put on gym clothes"
⢠Instead of "write 1,000 words" â "Write one sentence"
⢠Instead of "meditate for 20 minutes" â "Sit down and take 3 breaths"
The goal isn't to do the minimum. The goal is to show up. Once you're there, you'll usually do more.
But even if you don't, you've reinforced the identity. "I'm someone who shows up."
5. Environment Design
Your environment is stronger than your willpower. Period.
Good Habit? Make it obvious and easy.
⢠Want to work out in the morning? Lay out gym clothes the night before.
⢠Want to eat healthy? Meal prep and make it the easiest thing to grab.
⢠Want to read more? Put books on your pillow, phone in another room.
Bad Habit? Make it invisible and hard.
⢠Want to stop scrolling? Delete social media apps.
⢠Want to stop eating junk? Don't buy it. Can't eat what's not there.
⢠Want to stop hitting snooze? Put your alarm across the room.
Environment > Willpower. Every time.
The Beach Fit Morning Routine (My 2022-2025 Evolution)
Your morning sets the tone for your entire day. Screw up the morning, the day is uphill. Nail the morning, everything else flows.
But here's what most people don't tell you: The perfect morning routine doesn't exist on day one. You build it through iteration.
Let me show you how my morning routine evolved from 2022 to 2025, and what I learned working with dozens of men who were building their own systems.
2022: My First Morning Routine (Version 1.0)
When I first started taking mornings seriously, it was simple:
5:30am: Wake up (hit snooze 2-3 times)
6:00am: Check phone in bed (bad habit)
6:15am: Coffee + breakfast
6:45am: Gym
8:00am: Shower, get ready
8:30am: Start work
What worked: I was working out consistently. That was huge.
What didn't work: Phone first thing = reactive mode all day. No spiritual practice. No planning. Just reacting.
Lesson: Consistency matters more than perfection. But I knew I could optimize this.
2023: Adding Spiritual Practice (Version 2.0)
After working with men in recovery and seeing what practices actually moved the needle, I added:
5:15am: Wake up (no snoozeâphone in bathroom)
5:20am: Hydrate (16oz water immediately)
5:25am: Morning prayer + intention setting
5:35am: Journaling (gratitude + daily priorities)
6:00am: Gym
7:30am: Cold shower
8:00am: Breakfast + coffee
8:30am: Deep work begins
What improved: Starting with prayer and intention changed everything. I went from reactive to intentional.
What still needed work: I was still working out before doing any mental work. My best creative hours were being spent in the gym.
Lesson: Spiritual practice first = aligned day. But energy management still needed optimization.
2024: Optimizing Energy Management (Version 3.0)
After pattern-matching with successful entrepreneurs, I realized: Do your most important mental work when your mind is sharpestânot after you're exhausted from the gym.
5:00am: Wake up (ask higher power night before to wake me with energy)
5:05am: Hydrate + movement to another room (forces full wake-up)
5:10am: Cold shower (3 minutesânervous system reset)
5:15am: Wim Hof breathwork (3 rounds)
5:25am: Morning prayer + intention
5:35am: Coffee + priority planning
5:45am: DEEP WORK BLOCK (2 hours of focused execution)
7:45am: GYM (now that creative work is done)
9:00am: Breakfast
9:30am: Continue work
What changed: Moving gym to after deep work was a game-changer. My most creative, focused hours = 5:45-7:45am. I was no longer wasting them warming up for the day.
What I was learning: Every man I worked with had a slightly different routine, but the principles were the same: Hydration â State optimization â Spiritual practice â Deep work â Physical training.
Lesson: Energy management > time management. Do your most important work when you're sharpest.
2025: The Current System (Version 4.0âStill Evolving)
This is where I am now. Still refining. Still learning. Still failing forward.
4:55am: Natural wake-up (body knowsâno alarm needed)
5:00am: Hydrate (16oz water + electrolytes) + Oil Pulling
5:05am: 10-minute mobility flow (wake up the body)
5:15am: Cold shower (3 minutes full immersion)
5:20am: Breathwork (Wim Hof 3 rounds + meditation)
5:35am: Morning prayer + gratitude + intention setting + Daily Mantras
5:45am: Coffee + review Idea Garden + set top 3 priorities
6:00am: DEEP WORK BLOCK #1 (2 hoursâwriting, strategy, creation)
8:00am: Breakfast (high protein, vegetables, healthy fats)
8:30am: GYM (4-day split: Push/Pull/Legs/Conditioning)
10:00am: DEEP WORK BLOCK #2 (business execution)
12:00pm: Lunch + midday reset
Oil Pulling: The Ancient Morning Detox
Right when I wake up, while I'm hydrating, I do oil pulling. Here's how:
⢠Take 1 tablespoon of coconut oil (or sesame oil)
⢠Swish it around your mouth for 10-20 minutes
⢠Do this WHILE you're doing your morning mobility flow
⢠Spit it out (into trash, not sinkâit can clog pipes)
⢠Rinse mouth with water, then brush teeth
Benefits:
⢠Removes toxins and bacteria from your mouth
⢠Whitens teeth naturally
⢠Improves gum health
⢠Detoxes your system first thing in the morning
⢠Ancient Ayurvedic practice that actually works
I stack this with my mobility workâswishing while stretching. Efficient and effective.
Daily Mantras Practice (Part of Morning Routine)
At 5:35am, after breathwork and before coffee, I say my daily mantras. This is non-negotiable.
My Core Mantras:
⢠"Every day, in every way, I am getting better and better." (Ămile CouĂŠ)
⢠"I am Beach Fit in all 8 pillars."
⢠"I am a child of God, therefore I do not inherit diseases."
⢠"Money flows to me easily and abundantly."
⢠"I am exactly where I need to be."
⢠"My body is strong, my mind is sharp, my spirit is aligned."
How I do it:
⢠Stand in front of the mirror
⢠Say each mantra 3 times out loud
⢠Feel the words, believe them as truth
⢠Total time: 3-5 minutes
Why it works: Your subconscious mind accepts what you tell it repeatedly. Starting the day with powerful mantras programs your mind for success. (See Chapter 3 for creating your own mantras.)
What's optimized now:
- No alarm neededâbody naturally wakes at 4:55-5:00am
- Mobility before cold shower = better nervous system prep
- Idea Garden review = aligned with purpose daily
- Two deep work blocks = 4+ hours of peak performance daily
- Gym at 8:30am = still early, but mental work is protected
What I'm still working on: Midday reset routine, evening optimization, recovery protocols.
Lesson: There is no "perfect" routine. Only what works for YOU right now. And it should evolve as you grow.
What I Learned Working With Dozens of Men
From 2022-2025, I worked with countless men as they came of age and found their own Beach Fit systems. Here's what I pattern-matched across all of us:
The 5 Universal Principles (What Actually Works):
1. Hydration First (Non-Negotiable)
Every single guy who crushed mornings: Water first thing. 16-20oz minimum. Your body is dehydrated after 7-8 hours of sleep. Fix that immediately.
2. State Optimization Before Work
Cold exposure, breathwork, movement, meditationâsomething to shift your state from "just woke up" to "let's go." Doesn't matter which method. Just do SOMETHING.
3. Spiritual/Intention Practice
Prayer, gratitude, intention-setting, journalingâcall it what you want. The guys who connected to something bigger than themselves performed better. Period.
4. Deep Work Before Everything Else
Your sharpest hours = your most important work. Not email. Not meetings. Your ONE big thing. Protect these hours ruthlessly.
5. Physical Training (But Not First)
Everyone who worked out in the morning had better energy. But the ones who did mental work BEFORE gym had better results in business. Energy management matters.
I took on more responsibility in each area as I learned and pattern-matched. I knew it was my purpose to fail forward multiple times to prove this system works.
And it does. Not because it's perfect. But because it's iterated.
Building Your Morning Routine (Version 1.0)
Don't try to copy my 2025 routine. I didn't start there. I started with 2022 Version 1.0 and iterated for 3+ years.
Here's how to build YOUR Version 1.0:
Step 1: Start Simple (3-5 Habits Max)
Pick 3-5 morning habits that feel doable. Hydration? Movement? Prayer? Journaling? Don't overcommit.
Step 2: Stack Them in Order
One flows into the next. No gaps. Make it a sequence, not a checklist.
Step 3: Remove All Friction
Set up the night before. Gym clothes laid out. Water bottle filled. Journal on desk. Phone outside bedroom. Make it automatic.
Step 4: Commit to 90 Days
No negotiation. 90 days minimum. Track it. Show up even when you don't feel like it.
Step 5: Iterate (Every 90 Days)
After 90 days, ask: What's working? What's not? What needs to be added? What needs to be removed? Then build Version 2.0.
The Evolution Mindset:
Your routine will evolve. It SHOULD evolve. That's not failureâthat's growth.
Version 1.0 â Learn â Version 2.0 â Learn â Version 3.0
I'm on Version 4.0 and still iterating. That's the point. Fail forward. Pattern-match what works. Optimize. Repeat.
The Evening Wind-Down Routine
Most people focus on the morning. But the evening is just as important.
Your evening routine determines your sleep quality. And sleep quality determines everything else.
The Walk-In Ritual: Transitioning From Day to Night
When you walk into your house at the end of the day, you're not just entering a physical space. You're transitioning from the external world to your internal sanctuary.
This transition matters. Most people rush in, collapse on the couch, and bring all the day's stress with them.
But what if you had a ritual that allowed you to leave the day behind and step into peace?
The Walk-In Ritual (10 Minutes):
Step 1: Pause at the Door (30 seconds)
Before you walk in, take three deep breaths. You're leaving the day outside. You're entering your sanctuary. Feel the shift.
Step 2: Remove the Armor (2 minutes)
Take off your work clothes, your shoes, your watch. These are the "armor" of the day. Put them away intentionally. You're shedding the external roles you played today.
Step 3: Wash Your Face with a Warm Towel (3 minutes)
This is sacred. Get a warm, wet towel. Wipe your face slowly, intentionally. You're not just cleaning skinâyou're washing off the dirt of the day. The stress. The interactions. The energy you picked up that isn't yours. Let it all wash away.
Step 4: Change Into Comfortable Clothes (2 minutes)
Put on clean, comfortable clothes. Not workout clothes. Not pajamas yet. Transition clothes. You're signaling to your body: "Work is done. We're home now."
Step 5: Gratitude Moment (2 minutes)
Stand in your space. Look around. Say thank you. "Thank you for this home. Thank you for this safe space. Thank you for making it through today." Feel it.
The KonMari Tidy: Thank Everything
Marie Kondo's KonMari Method isn't just about organizingâit's about gratitude and respect for your space.
One of her most powerful teachings: Thank everything that serves you.
Before bed, do a quick tidy of your space. But here's the key: Thank each item as you put it away.
The KonMari Evening Tidy (5-10 Minutes)
Your clothes? Thank them. "Thank you for keeping me warm today. Thank you for making me look professional." Fold them or hang them with care.
Your dishes? Thank them. "Thank you for holding my food. Thank you for nourishing me." Wash them mindfully.
Your phone? Thank it. "Thank you for connecting me with people I love. Thank you for your service today." Put it on the charger, outside your bedroom.
Your work materials? Thank them. "Thank you for helping me provide value today. Thank you for supporting my livelihood." Put them away until tomorrow.
Your shoes? Thank them. "Thank you for taking me where I needed to go today." Place them neatly by the door.
Why This Works:
- Shifts your mindset: From taking for granted to appreciation
- Creates sacred space: Your home becomes a temple, not just a place
- Trains gratitude: You're actively practicing thankfulness
- Calms the mind: Slow, mindful tidying is meditative
- Respects your possessions: When you thank things, you take better care of them
- Prepares for tomorrow: Everything is in its place, ready for the next day
When you treat your space with reverence, it holds you with reverence.

The Evening Routine Principles:
1. Ritual Over Routine: Don't just go through motions. Make it sacred. Every action has intention.
2. Gratitude Throughout: Thank your space, your possessions, your body, your day. Gratitude is the highest vibration.
3. Clean the Slate: Wash off the dayâliterally and energetically. Don't bring external chaos into your sanctuary.
4. Prepare for Tomorrow: Everything laid out, tidy, ready. You wake up to order, not chaos.
5. Signal to Your Body: Each step tells your nervous system "We're safe. We're done. We can rest now."
Holistic Health: The Full System
Beach Fit isn't just physical fitness. It's holistic healthâmind, body, spirit working together.
Here are the pillars of holistic Beach Fit health:
1. Physical Health (Body)
We covered this in Chapter 1, but the habits that maintain it:
- Training 4-5x per week (non-negotiable)
- Meal prep every Sunday
- Daily protein target (track it)
- Daily movement minimum (10k steps or 30 min activity)
- Monthly body comp check
2. Mental Health (Mind)
Your mind needs maintenance just like your body:
- Daily journaling (5-10 minutes)
- Meditation or breathwork (10 minutes)
- Deep work blocks (2 hours minimum daily)
- Reading (30 minutes minimum daily)
- Therapy or coaching (monthly check-ins)
- Digital detox (one day per week, no phone/computer)
3. Emotional Health (Heart)
Chapter 2 covered emotional resilience. The habits:
- Daily emotional check-ins (morning, midday, evening)
- Nervous system resets (cold exposure, breathwork, movement)
- Vulnerability practice (share real emotions weekly)
- Gratitude journal (3 things daily)
- Forgiveness practice (let go of resentments)
4. Spiritual Health (Soul)
Chapter 3 covered alignment. The habits:
- Morning intention setting
- Daily Idea Garden check (water your seeds)
- Weekly alignment audit (am I in flow or force?)
- Monthly vision review (am I on track?)
- Service (one act daily)
5. Social Health (Community)
Chapter 4 covered connection. The habits:
- Weekly inner circle time (call or meet)
- Monthly friend ritual (dinner, activity, etc.)
- Quarterly community contribution (host, serve, lead)
- Daily: Reach out to one person (text, call, message)
Habit Tracking: The System That Works
You can't manage what you don't measure. Habit tracking is essential.
The Simple System:
Get a notebook or use an app. List your daily non-negotiables. Check them off every day.
My Tracking:
⥠Morning routine
⥠Training
⥠Protein target hit
⥠Evening wind-down
⥠Act of service
At the end of the week, I count: How many days did I go 5/5?
Goal: 6 out of 7 days = 85% consistency = Beach Fit maintained.
Miss 2+ days in a row? Red flag. Reset immediately.
The Two-Day Rule
Life happens. You'll miss habits sometimes. That's okay.
The rule: Never miss twice in a row.
Miss Monday's workout? Fine. But Tuesday is non-negotiable.
Skip meal prep one week? Fine. But next week is non-negotiable.
One miss = no big deal. Two misses = the start of a downward spiral.
What I Learned From Working With Men (2022-2025)
From 2022-2025, I worked with dozens of men building their own Beach Fit systems. Different ages, different backgrounds, different goals. But the patterns were unmistakable.
Here's what I learned by taking on more responsibility and pattern-matching what actually works:
The Men Who Failed (And Why)
Common Pattern: They tried to build the perfect routine on day one. Morning routine, evening routine, gym 6 days a week, meal prep, meditation, journaling, cold showersâall at once.
What Happened: They lasted 2 weeks. Maybe 3. Then life happened. They missed one day. Then two. Then they quit entirely and felt like failures.
The Lesson: Too much, too fast = guaranteed failure. You can't go from 0 to 100. You have to stack habits slowly.
The Men Who Succeeded (And Why)
Common Pattern: They started with ONE habit. Usually hydration + cold shower OR morning prayer. That's it. Just one stack.
What Happened: They nailed it for 30 days. It became automatic. Then they added the next habit. Then the next. By month 6, they had a full routine that was 100% automatic.
The Lesson: Start small. Stack slow. Master each piece before adding the next.
The Universal Success Formula (What Every Guy Who Crushed It Did):
Month 1: Wake time + hydration only
Month 2: Add state optimization (cold shower OR breathwork)
Month 3: Add spiritual practice (prayer/gratitude/intention)
Month 4: Add deep work block (1-2 hours focused)
Month 5: Add physical training (gym/movement)
Month 6: Add evening wind-down routine
By Month 6, full routine is automated. No willpower needed. Just automatic.
I knew it was my purpose to fail forward multiple timesâto try different approaches, work with different people, pattern-match principlesâto prove this system works.
And it does. When you build it right. One layer at a time.
Real-World Beach Fit Habits
James: Version 1.0 to Version 3.0 (18 Months)
Starting Point: No morning routine. Woke up whenever. Checked phone in bed. Reactive all day. Out of shape. Stressed. No systems.
Version 1.0 (Month 1-3):
⢠Wake at 6am (same time daily)
⢠Hydrate immediately (16oz water)
⢠Cold shower (2 minutes)
Result: Finally consistent. Felt more awake and alert.
Version 2.0 (Month 4-9):
⢠Added: Morning prayer + gratitude journal
⢠Added: 1-hour deep work block before work
⢠Added: Gym 3x per week
Result: Business performance improved. Body improved. Mood improved.
Version 3.0 (Month 10-18):
⢠Optimized: Wake at 5am (gained extra hour)
⢠Added: Wim Hof breathwork
⢠Added: Evening wind-down routine
⢠Increased: Gym to 4x per week
Result: Fully automated. Beach Fit habits locked in.
His Words: "I didn't try to be perfect on day one. I built one layer at a time. By month 18, my entire life runs on systems. I don't think about itâI just show up. That's the power of stacking slowly."
The 90-Day Beach Fit Habits Challenge
Phase 1: Foundation (Days 1-30)
Goal: Build your core habits
Actions:
⢠Define 3-5 daily non-negotiables
⢠Build morning routine (same every day)
⢠Build evening routine (same every day)
⢠Track daily (simple checklist)
⢠Environment design (remove friction)
Target: 25 out of 30 days hit all habits (83% consistency)
Phase 2: Optimization (Days 31-60)
Goal: Make habits automatic
Actions:
⢠Continue daily non-negotiables (no exceptions)
⢠Add habit stacking (attach new habits to existing ones)
⢠Two-day rule (never miss twice)
⢠Adjust routines based on what's working
⢠Weekly review: What's working? What needs tweaking?
Target: 27 out of 30 days hit all habits (90% consistency)
Phase 3: Mastery (Days 61-90)
Goal: Habits become identity
Actions:
⢠Continue all habits (automatic now)
⢠Add one new habit (you have capacity now)
⢠Teach someone else your system (solidifies your mastery)
⢠Prepare for next 90 days (what's next?)
Target: 28 out of 30 days hit all habits (93% consistency)
Action Items: Start Today
Do These 5 Things Today:
1. Define Your 3-5 Daily Non-Negotiables
What habits, done daily, keep you Beach Fit? Write them down. These are your anchors.
2. Design Your Morning Routine
First 90 minutes of your day. What will you do? In what order? Write it out step-by-step.
3. Set Up Your Environment Tonight
Lay out gym clothes. Prep tomorrow's meals. Put phone outside bedroom. Remove friction.
4. Create Your Habit Tracker
Notebook or app. List your non-negotiables. Check them off daily. Track your consistency.
5. Commit to the Two-Day Rule
Write it down: "I will never miss twice in a row." This is your safety net.
My Commitment to Fail Forward (Why This System Works)
I spent 2022-2025 failing forward. Iterating. Testing. Pattern-matching.
I tried morning routines that didn't work. I built systems that collapsed. I worked with men who quit and men who crushed it. I took on more responsibility in each aspect as my continued willingness and desire to learn and overstand these concepts grew.
I knew it was my purpose to prove this system worksânot just for me, but for anyone willing to do the work.
Here's what I learned through all the failures:
The 5 Hard-Earned Truths:
1. There Is No Perfect Routine
Only what works for YOU right now. And it will evolve. That's not failureâthat's growth.
2. You Can't Copy Someone Else's System
You can learn principles. But you have to build YOUR system. Your wake time. Your practices. Your non-negotiables.
3. Stacking Slow Beats Starting Fast
One habit at a time, mastered and automated, beats trying to do 10 things at once and quitting in week 2.
4. Failure Is Part of the Process
I failed dozens of times building this. So did every man I worked with. The ones who succeeded kept going. The ones who quit stopped after the first failure.
5. Systems Beat Everything
Motivation fades. Willpower runs out. But systems? Systems run forever.
I didn't figure this out in 90 days. It took years. Multiple versions. Countless iterations.
But now I have a system that works. And if you follow the principlesâstart simple, stack slow, fail forward, iterate constantlyâyou'll build one that works for you too.
The Bottom Line
Motivation is great. But it's unreliable.
Willpower is useful. But it's limited.
Systems are everything.
Beach Fit isn't something you do when you feel like it. It's something you do because of who you are.
And who you are is determined by your habits.
Build the habits. Trust the systems. Iterate when they break. You don't rise to your goalsâyou fall to your systems.
That's Beach Fit Habits.
